how much correction is appropriate?

Don:t you think there is a balance between the flow of conversation and the amount of correction. How much should you let errors pass and how much correction?

Sometimes I just let things go and don't correct at all. I guess they are not learning by that.

depends on your goals

If the person you are helping has serious goals such as passing a difficult test then you should be strict with the corrections. But if they have a goal such as travel or something maybe just help them with pronounciation etc...

get points through

I think it's appropriate as long as your partner can get points through in an appropriate time
