I believe this is why.

I think i had to to with the UK exploring and colonizing different continents. WW1 and WW2 were the U.S. entered and helped to quell the Axis. Which allowed to expand it more since the U.S. became a super power in the world and also help those countries rebuild after the wars. Thats my opinion.

US power and money

It is because of the US power and influence in the world which peaked after WWII. At the turn of the century French was more of an international language than English!

Don't be surprised if we are all speaking Chinese someday :).

Some people have no freedom...

because some people think we are really cool and like our freedom (not all countries) some people have to obey a certain religion or get killed its really sad and bussiness stuff too
